number of days each of said Judges has attended said Court
during the months, and the Tax Collector shall pay to each of
said Judges six dollars ($6.00) for each of said day's attend-
ance so certified by the Register of Wills.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 39.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of The Consolidation Coal Com-
pany, a body corporate, incorporated by Chapter 265 of the
Laws of Maryland of 1860.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That nothing contained in the Charter of The Consolida-
tion Coal Company, to-wit, Chapter 265, of the Laws of Mary-
land of 1860, shall prevent the issuance by said corporation of
preferred stock with such preferences, voting powers, restric-
tions and qualifications thereof, as would now or may hereafter
be permissible under the general laws of this State in the case
of an ordinary business corporation incorporated thereunder,
and that nothing in said Charter shall prevent the said corpo-
ration from subdividing the shares of its stock, or any class
thereof, into shares of a less par value than one hundred dollars
($100.00), or from converting the same into shares without par
value; provided that such preferred stock shall be or shall have
been issued, or such subdivision or conversion effected, by or
pursuant to an amendment to the charter of the corporation
adopted in the manner provided by Section 25 of Article 23 of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, as said Section
was enacted by the Act of 1920, Chapter 327, or in such manner
as may be hereafter provided by law for the adoption of similar
amendments to the charters of corporations incorporated under
the General Laws of this State; and provided further that
nothing herein contained shall prevent the said corporation
from issuing from time to time additional stock, as authorized
by its charter, and that if any section or clause of this act be
held invalid, then the remainder of this Act shall not be affected
thereby.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
