CHAPTER 133.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 15 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Kent County, " sub-title,
"Chestertown, '' said new section to be known as Section 65-C
and to follow immediately after Section 65-B, authorizing
an additional tax levy and referring the question to the voters
of Chestertown.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 15
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Kent
County, " sub-title, ''Chestertown, " said new section to be
known as Section 65-C, to follow Section 65-B of said Article

and to read as follows:

65-C. The Commissioners of Chestertown may levy on the
assessable property of Chestertown such sum of money as they
may deem necessary, not exceeding eleven cents on the hundred
dollars, in any one year, in addition to the levy of sixty-five
cents on the hundred dollars now authorized by law, and to have
the same powers in the collection of such additional sum as they
may levy, as they now possess. Of said increased levy six cents
on the hundred dollars shall be for the benefit of the Chestertown
Volunteer Fire Company, and all of the monies collected there-
from shall be paid by the Commissioners of Chestertown to the
said, The Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That at the regular town
election on the fourth Monday in April, 1924, there shall be
submitted to the qualified voters of Chestertown, the question
whether or not the Commissioners of Chestertown shall be au-
thorized to make an additional tax levy, and at such election
there shall be printed or written upon the ballots the words ''For

Additional Tax Levy, " and "Against Additional Tax Levy. "
If a majority of the votes cast upon said question shall be "For
Additional Tax Levy, '' the Commissioners of Chestertown shall
have the power to make the additional levy authorized by this
Act; but if a majority of the votes cast upon said question shall
be "Against Additional Tax Levy, '' then this Act shall be null
and void and said Commissioners shall not have the power to
make an additional levy.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public safety, and being passed upon
