sioners: but whenever a general registration of voters is held
under this section, the officers of registration in addition to
sitting for this purpose on the first Monday in February,
shall sit for such additional day or days as are designated
by the said Mayor and Commissioners and specified in such
public notice; and, whenever necessary, in the opinion of said
Mayor and Commissioners, they may provide for the continu-
ation of the annual registration during the next ensuing day
after the first Monday in February, the public notice of regis-
tration so stating. It shall be the duty of such registration
officers, in addition to registering voters, to examine and check
over the registration lists, and they shall make a list of those
who in their opinion may be disqualified thereon as voters,
and they shall deliver such list to the Clerk of the Town,
who shall forthwith send written notice by mail to all per-
sons whose names are so given to him, notifying them to be
and appear before the officers of registration on the next suc-
ceeding revision day to show cause, if any they have, why
their names should not be stricken from the lists of qualified
voters of the Town of Westernport, and the said Clerk shall
certify to the registration officers, under oath, the fact that
such notices were mailed and the time thereof. For the pur-
pose of revising such registration lists and striking therefrom
the names of those no longer qualified to vote in said town,
the registration officers shall sit one day each year, known as
Revision Day, to be selected by the Mayor and Commissioners
of Westernport and which shall be not less than five days
prior to the annual election. Notice of the same shall be
given at the same time and manner as notice of the preceding
registration sitting. It will be the duty of the registration
officers on such day to strike from the lists all those to whom
notice has been mailed by the Clerk as ordered, who do not
appear before them at that time and show cause why their
names should not be stricken off the lists of qualified voters
or who have not otherwise shown to them their qualification
as qualified voters, provided such notice has been mailed by
the Clerk at least ten days before Revision Day. At the time
of holding any election in said Town of Westernport the offi-
cers of registration shall attend with and have in charge the
lists of qualified voters, registered and revised by them.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, 1924.
