NO. 19.
Requesting the Hon. Albert C. Ritchie, Governor of Maryland,
to be a candidate for the Presidency of the United States.
WHEREAS, The Hon. Albert C. Ritchie made such an excel-
lent Governor during the first term of his office that he was
renominated without opposition by his party for a second term;
and
WHEREAS, The Hon. Albert C. Ritchie has been the only
person elected for a second term by a vote of the people of
Maryland; and
WHEREAS, In all the public positions which he has filled and
particularly since he has been Governor, he has demonstrated
such ability and qualifications of leadership that the attention
of the people throughout the United States has been turned
towards him; and
WHEREAS, The conditions now existing in the United States
demand that the President of the United States be a man of
the greatest ability, experience and courage; and
WHEREAS, All these qualifications are possessed by the pres-
ent Governor of Maryland; therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Hon. Albert C. Ritchie, Governor of Maryland, be and he is
hereby petitioned and requested to become a candidate for the
Presidency of the United States; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the House be and he is
hereby directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the said
Hon. Albert C. Ritchie.

NO. 20.
Joint Resolution and Memorial of the General Assembly of
Maryland to the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States in Congress Assembled requesting the repeal
of all laws which authorize appropriations to the several
States in the form of Federal Aid on condition that the
States make similar appropriations and to abolish all offices,
boards and bureaus created to administer or supervise such
appropriations.
