or twelve dollars per diem for each day of actual employment
when he shall be appointed to attend only when his services
shall be specially required by the judges; the said salaries to be
paid in like manner as the salaries of the other officers of the
courts are now paid, as prescribed in Section 372.

CHAPTER 572.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 24 of
Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Rev-
enue and Taxes", sub-title ''Rate and Items of State Tax",
as said section was amended by Chapter 489 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland of 1922.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 24 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Rate and
Items of State Tax", as said section was amended by Chapter
489 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1922,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows:

24. The County Commissioners of the several counties of
the State, and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore are
directed to levy the State taxes, on each one hundred dollars
($100) of assessable property, to be collected according to law.
and to be apportioned for each of the years nineteen hundred
and twenty-five (1925), nineteen hundred and twenty-six
(1926), and nineteen hundred and twenty-seven (1927), respec-
tively, in the manner following, the tax to aid in the support of
the public schools, to be distributed according to law among1 the
several Counties and the City of Baltimore, and the taxes for
each of the State loans specified to be to meet the interest and
pay the installments thereof.
