230J of said Article, as said sections were enacted by Chap-
ter 35 of the Acts of 1910, relating to the term of office,
powers and duties of the County Road Engineer.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 230D of Article 18 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Queen Anne's County", sub-
title "Roads", as said section was enacted by Chapter 35 of
the Acts of 1910, be and it is hereby repealed, and that Sec-
tions 230C, 230E, 230F, 230H and 230J of said Article 18, as
said sections were enacted by Chapter 35 of the Acts of 1910,
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend
ments to read as follows:
230C. The County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County,
on or before the first day of June, in the year nineteen hundred
and ten, shall appoint some competent person, who shall have
a sufficient knowledge of civil engineering to enable him to ac-
curately make surveys, plats, profiles and specifications for the
grading, draining, maintenance, repairs and reconstruction of
the public roads of said county, and also to do the necessary
engineering work for the building or rebuilding of bridges,
and who shall have at least three years' experience in road en-
gineering work, to be County Road Engineer for Queen Anne's
County, the said County Road Engineer shall hold his office
for the term of four years from the date of his appointment
unless sooner removed for cause and shall receive a salary
not exceeding eighteen hundred dollars per year, pay-
able monthly; and every four years thereafter or in case of va-
cancy in said office, as hereinafter provided, the County Com-
missioners of Queen Anne's County shall appoint some compe-
tent person having the above qualifications to be County Road
Engineer of said county, and the said appointment shall be
made without any reference whatever to the political opinions
of the person so appointed.
230E. The County Road Engineer shall reside in Queen
Anne's County during the term of his office, and shall have
control and supervision of the working, repairing and
reconstructing of the public roads and bridges in Queen
Anne's County, and shall make all specifications for the
founding of new roads and bridges. He shall employ such help,
teams and implements as he may deem necessary for the work-
ing, repairing and reconstructing said roads and bridges, to be
paid by the County Commissioners: he shall not employ any
