provided for, and any vacancy by death, resignation, removal
from the said town of Berwyn Heights or otherwise shall be
filled by a special election to be held after ten days' notice and
in conformance with the provisions pertaining to general elec-
tions hereinabove set forth, the person or persons so elected to
hold office for the period of the unexpired term. The com-
missioners shall serve without compensation, and shall at their
first meeting after election elect one of their number to be
chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
SEC. 7. The commissioners shall meet in said town on the
first Monday in June succeeding their election, and from time
to time thereafter as occasion may require, or upon the call of
the chairman.
SEC. 8. The said commissioners shall annually elect a
treasurer who shall also act as clerk for said commissioners,
and who in addition to his or her duties as treasurer shall keep
the minutes of their proceedings in a well-bound book, which
shall be open to the inspection of all bona fide residents of said
town, and said clerk shall perform such other duties as the
commissioners may assign to him or her.
SEC. 9. The commissioners shall annually appoint one or
more bailiffs for said town, who are hereby declared to have
and are vested with all the powers of a constable of Prince
George's County within the said town limits, and who shall
perform such duties as may be required of them by the said
commissioners, and who shall preserve the peace and good
order in said town.
SEC. 10. The commissioners shall annually appoint a
health officer for said town, whose duties may be prescribed by
said commissioners.
SEC. 11. Before any elective or appointive officer of the
said Town of Berwyn Heights shall enter upon his or her
duties he or she shall make oath before some officer authorized
to administer oaths in said Prince George's County that he or
she will diligently and faithfully, to the best of his or her skill,
judgment and ability, perform the duties of his or her office
and he or she shall file a certificate of such oath with the clerk
or chairman of said commissioners which shall become part of
the records of said town.
