CHAPTER 58.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 158 of
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title, ''Washington County, " sub-title, "Hagerstown, " as
the same was repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 115 of the
Acts of Assembly of 1894, and by Chapter 2 of the Acts of
Assembly of 1894, and by Chapter 2 of the Acts of Assembly
of 1918.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 158, of Article 22 of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, title, "Washington County, " sub-
title, "Hagerstown, " as the same was repealed and re-enacted
by Chapter 115 of the Acts of Assembly of 1894, and by Chap-
ter 2 of the Acts of Assembly of 1918, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as fol-
lows:

SECTION 158. That the Mayor, by virtue of his office, shall
preside at all meetings of the Council and in case of a tie, ex-
cept in the passage of Ordinances, shall have the deciding vote,
he shall see that the Ordinances of the Town are faithfully ex-
ecuted and shall report to the Council at its first meeting after
each annual Election, the condition of Municipal affairs; he

shall have the power of vetoing any ordinance, as hereinafter
provided in Section 174, and for his services, he shall receive
an annual salary of Eighteen Hundred Dollars, and no other
fee or compensation whatever.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is one of
emergency, necessary for the immediate preservation of the pub-
lic safety, and general welfare, and it shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

Approved April 9, 1924.

CHAPTER 59.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 111J¾
of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Garrett County", sub-title "Friendsville, " as said sec-
tion was enacted by Chapter 514 of the Acts of 1908. in-
creasing the amount to be paid by Garrett County to the town
of Friendsville for the improvement and maintenance of the
streets of said town.
