is required to be counted and returned under the General
Election Laws of Maryland, and the Supervisors of Election
for Somerset County shall canvass the return of said vote on
said question, and certify the result thereof in the same man-
ner as the vote for candidates at said regular election is re-
quired to be canvassed and certified, and the said Supervisors
of Election shall also certify the number of votes cast for said
''School Bonds" and against said "School Bonds, " respective-
ly, both to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Somerset County
and to the Clerk of the County Commissioners of said Somerset
County, and if a majority of the votes cast at said election, as
shown by said certificates of said Supervisors of Election, shall
be for said School Bonds, the County Commissioners shall issue
said bonds as hereinbefore provided, but if a majority of votes
be cast against said School Bonds, then this Act shall have no
effect, and bonds shall not be issued thereunder.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 57.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
Somerset County to issue bonds on the credit of said County
to the amount of eighty thousand dollars ($80, 000), the pro-
ceeds thereof, to be paid over to the State Road Commission
to be used and expended by said Commission for the further
construction and permanent improvement of the highway
leading from Princess Anne to Deals Island, and providing
for a referendum vote on the said proposed bond issue,

WHEREAS, the public road or highway, known as the Deals
Island road, leading from Princess Anne to Deals Island from
and beyond a point on said highway where the present westward
terminus of the concrete highway ends, has become difficult and
at times impossible of passage by persons desiring to pass over
said highway; and

WHEREAS, the said highway is the only public road over which
the inhabitants of Deals Island, Tangier and Dames Quarter
Districts can travel to the County Seat and other sections of
Somerset County; and
