SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 414.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 81 of
Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Charles County, " sub-title "Jurors, Witnesses, Bail-
iffs, Crier and Messengers, " as said section was amended
by Chapter 35 of the Acts of 1920, increasing the compensa-
tion of Bailiffs, Messengers, and Criers.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 81 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Charles County, " sub-title "Jurors,
Witnesses, Bailiffs, Crier and Messengers, " as said section was
amended by Chapter 35 of the Acts of 1920, be and it is here-
by repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as fol-
lows:
81. The pay of jurors attending the Circuit Court of
Charles County shall be three dollars per day, and ten cents
for each mile, over five miles, for going to and returning from
the Court, once in each week, while serving on the jury; the
pay of witnesses shall be one dollar per day while attending
the Circuit Court under summons; the pay of each bailiff and
messenger to the Court shall be two dollars and fifty cents per
day; the per diem of each crier to said Court shall be two dol-
lars and fifty cents and the same fees as are now allowed; and
the certificate of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, expressing the
number of days any of the aforegoing officers, jurors or wit-
nesses, whose fees are properly chargeable against the county,
may be entitled to for such attendance shall be sufficient au-
thority for the treasurer of said county to pay the amount
therein specified on presentation.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.
