the limits of the proposed town shall be eligible to vote at such
election upon taking and subscribing, before a member of the
Board of Election Supervisors (each of which said members of
said Board are hereby authorized to administer oaths for this
purpose) an oath as follows: "I, ———————— do hereby
solemnly swear that I am a citizen of the United States, that
I have attained the age of twenty-one years, and that I am a
resident of the proposed town of COTTAGE CITY, Maryland.

day of ———————————, 1924.

No person who shall fail or refuse to take and subscribe such
oath shall be eligible to vote at such election, and any person
who swears to any thing that is false in taking and subscribing
such oath shall be guilty of the crime of perjury and subject to
the penalties provided by the law of the State of Maryland.
(H) That, for the convenience of the residents of said town
and for the convenience of said Board of Election Supervisors,
such Board may permit such oath (referred to in paragraph G
of this Section) to be taken and subscribed prior to the day of
such election. But no person shall be required to take and sub-
scribe such oath, nor shall said Board be required to administer
such oath, prior to the day of such election.
(I) That, upon the closing of the polls, said Board of Elec-
tion Supervisors shall count the votes and publicly announce
the result of such election.
(J) That, within one week after publicly announcing the
result of such election, said Board of Election Supervisors shall
make a certificate, to be sworn to by each member of said Board,
before a justice of the peace or other officer or person (includ-
ing a notary public) authorized to administer oaths in Prince
George's County, stating the result of such election and the num-
ber of votes cast for, and the number of votes cast against, in-
corporation. One such certificate or a certified copy thereof
shall be filed by said Board of Election Supervisors with the
Secretary of State of the State of Maryland, and another such
certificate or a certified copy thereof shall be filed by said
Board among the records of said town (in the event that this
charter is accepted). Failure on the part of said Board of
Election Supervisors to make or file such certificate shall in no
wise affect the validity of such election.
