Court 1729 Chattles of a Certain Daniel Greenwood then and there being found then and there feloniously did Steal take and bear away contrary to the peace of the Said Lord proprietarie that now is his good rule and governm.t and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case lately made and provided T francis Cler. pac. Billa Vera p ine Tho.s Hynson foreman And the afd Andrew Norvill in his proper person cometh and saith that he is not in any sort guilty of the premises above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t it is alledged And thereof he putteth himselfe upon the Country And.w Norvill p.a p.a And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty T ffrancis Cler. pac. Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County that he Immediately cause to come here twelve &c.a By whom &c.a who neither &c.a To Recognize &c.a Because as well &c.a of Which Said precept the Said Sherf to wit Joseph Young Get now here at this day to wit the Eighteenth day of Novemb.r Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Nine makes return that he hath here Ready twelve &c.a As by his precept it was Commanded And was here afterwards to wit the day and year last mentioned came again the Said Lord Proprietarie by his Attry afd and the Said Andrew in his proper person And the Jurors of that Jury being Impanneled Likewise came to wit William Woodland Charles Smith Thomas Bordley Edwd Rogers jun.r Morgan Hurt William Deane Sam.l Gooding John Macay John Clayton Joseph Hull John Browning & Dan.l Bryan who being duely Elected tryd and Sworn to day the truth in the premises upon their Oath do Say that the afd Andrew Norvill is guilty as he Stands Indicted and by William Woodland there foreman all So Say Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here at this Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in Novemb.r being the Eighteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty and Nine That the Said Andrew Norvill for his offence afd according to this Verdict of the Jurors Standing in the pillory one quarter of an hour and then Receive on his bare back five Lashes tell the blood appear ^and also pay the Sume of two Shillings Cur.t money it being the four fold of y.e afd goods stoln^ as a punishm.t for his Crime afd of felony according to the form force and Effect of the Verdict of the Jurors afd Also it is Considered that the Said Andrew Norvill pay the Sume of Eight hundred twenty Eight pounds of Tobacco Costs accrueing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court It is also Considered by the Court here at this day to wit the day and year last mentioned That the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Andrew Norvill into his Custody and Execute the punishm.t in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring him into Court againe Off which pcept the Said Sherf to wit Joseph Young Gent high Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day & year last Said That he hath Executed the Said Judgm.t And also hath here the Said Andrew Norvill before the Court And thereupon the Court Commits from the said Andrew Norvill into the Custody of Joseph Young Sherf of Said County untill the four fold Amounting to two Shillings Current money and the fees on the premises be paid A Certain Dan.l Greenwood before M.r Philip Kennard Jun.r one of the Justices of this Court on the twenty Second day of Octob.r Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Nine and Executed a fine in the Sum of twenty pounds |
