Kent County fs.t The jurors for the right hon.ble the Lord proprietarie that
now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Rebecca Hurt late
of Shrewsbury parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth day of June
Anno Dom Seventeen hundred twenty and eight at the parish afd in the
afd County within the Jurisdiction of this Court did commit fornication with a Certain person
to the Jurors afd unknown and did permit the Same unknown person then and there to
have carnal knowledge of her body and to beget then and there a bastard Child on
the body of her the Same Rebecca to the high displeasure of Almighty God to
the Evil Example of all others in Such Case offending contrary to the peace of the
Said Lord proprietarie that now is his good rule and Governm.t and against the form
of the Act of Assembly in that Case made and provided

    And the afd Rebecca Hurt in her proper person Comes and Saith that She Cannot
gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her brought nor but that She is guilty
of the premises above upon her imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged
here viz at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in
June being the Seventeenth day of Said Month Anno Dom One Thousand Seven
hundred and twenty Nine That the afd Rebeccah Hurt pay the Sume of thirty
Shillings Current money Debt according to Act of Assembly in Such Case made & provided
^her by afd^ And also pay the Sume of two hundred Seventy Six pounds of Tobacco Costs
Accruing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court

County afd who for the same Lord Propry in this Part Prosecuteth
doth come hereinto Kent County Court before Lambert Wilmer Esqu.r and his
associates his s.d Lordships Justices of the same County Court to wit at Chester
Town in the afd County the eighteenth day of June Anno Domini seventeen
hundred and twenty eight and for the same Lord Propry doth give the Court
here to understand and be informed that John Alexander of Shrewsbury
parish in Kent County afd Planter the first day of November Anno Dom
