June Court 1734 the Said writ &c.a Att which Said Court to wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in June being the Eighteenth day of Said Month Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty four being the day of Return of Said writt Came John Gresham Gentl. Sherriff of Said County and made return thereof to the Court here endorsed as foll. viz.t Cepi Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sherff Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the R.t hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their oath do present that John Jones late of Shrewsbury parish in the Coty afd Planter and Thomas Jones of the Same parish and County Planter the first day of November in the year of our Lord God one Thousand Seven hundred and twenty one with force and Arms &c.a At the parish afd in the Coty afd and within the Jurisdicion of this Court one Hogg of the price of one hundred pounds of Tobacco of the goods Chattles of a Certain William Boyer then and there being found then and there feloniously did Steal take drive and lead away Contrary to the peace of the said Lord prop.ry that now is his good rule and diginty and against the form of the Act of Assembly in that case made and provided &c.a M Howard Cler. pacis Testes John Sapp William Sapp William Boyer The afd bill was returnd endorsed as foll. viz. ^a true bill by John Taylor foreman^ And The afd John ^Jones^ and Thomas Jones came in their proper persons and Say that they nor either of them ^are^ not in any Sort Guilty of the premisses above upon them imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and of this they and upon the Country Jn.o Jones Tho.s Jones And he who follows for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith that they and Thereupon Command was given to the Sherriff of Kent County that he Immediately cause to come here twelve &c.a by whom &c.a who neither &c.a To Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a of which Said precept the Said Sherrife To wit Gideon Pearce Gentl. now here at this day to wit the Nineteenth day of March Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and he hath here ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was Commanded and now here afterwards to wit the day & year last mentioned Came againe the afd Lord prop.ry and the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled and called Likewise came to witt Thomas Christian Richard Kennard Humphry Yonger James Thomas Roger Hales Richard Davis Francis Meeks Griffeth Jones Abraham Ambrose John Walls John Jones and John Brooks who being duely Elected tryd and Sworn to Say the truth in the premisses upon their Oath do say that John Jones |
