41 of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors afd Unknown and did permit the same unknown person then & there to have Carnal Knowledge of her body & to begett then & there a bastard Child on the body of her the same Mary to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule & Government and Against the form of the act of Assembly in that Case made & Provided T francis Cler. pac. Test Philip Ricketts Ann Spearman On the back of the afd Indictm.t was Endorst as folls billa Vera Henry Evans And the afd Mary in her proper person comes and Defends the force & injury And saith that she cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her bro.t nor but that she is guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to with at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said County this ninteenth day of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Eight that the afd Mary pay the sum of thirty Shillings as a fine for Committing fornication in form afd Confest Also that she pay the sum of three hundred fifty two pounds of tob.o Costs accrueing on the premisses to the officers of this Court &c Ordered by the Court that the Sherf of Kent County do keep the said Mary in safe Custody untill the officers of this Court she shall Satisfie |
