William Woodland
 Command was given On the twenty Sixth day of March Anno
Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty three to the
Sherrif of Kent County that he take William Woodland late of
Shrewsbury Parish in the County afd Planter if he Should be
found in his bailiwick and him safe keep So that he have his body before the Justices
of our next County Court to be held at our Curt house in the Town of Chester in Said
County on the third tuesday in June then next ensueing to Answer unto a Certain Indictm.t
in our said Court for assaulting a Certain Peter Cole &c.a and that the Same Sherrif
have at the Said Court the Same Writ &c.a

    Att which Said Court to wit at Kent County at the Court house in the Town of
Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in June being the nineteenth day of Said
Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty three being the day
of return of Said Writ Came John Gresham Gentl Sherrif of Said County and made
return thereof to the Court here endorsed as foll. viz.t Cepi Corpus John Gresham

    Kent County fs  The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord proprietary that now is
for the body of Kent County afd upon their oath do present that William Woodland late of
Shrewsbury Parish in the County afd Planter the tenth day of October Anno Domini
Seventeen hundred & thirty two at the parish afd in the County afd within the
Jurisdicion of this Court in and upon Peter Cole in the peace of God and of the Said Lord
proprietarie then and there being with force and Arms an Assault did make and him the
Said Peter then and there did beat wound and evilly treat So that of his life it was
much despaired and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage of the Said
Peter and against the peace of the said Lord prop.ry the good rule and dignity &c.a

    On the Same was endorsed as foll. viz.t true bill p Simon Wilmer foreman

    And the afd William Woodland in his proper person comes and Saith that he Cannot
gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against him brought Nor but that he is guilty
of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged
and thereupon Submits to the Court  Therefore it is Considered by the Justices
here to wit at Kent County at the Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County
on the third tuesday in June being the nineteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom.
One thousand Seven hundred and thirty two  That the afd William Woodland
being find the Sum of twenty five Shillings Current money to the use of
his Lordship as a fine for Commiting the assault afd in form afd Confest and
also pay the Sum of three hundred and Nineteen pounds of Tobacco costs
accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    This Court orders that fine be Delivered the Sherrif after which came
John Gresham Gentl Sherrif of Said County and Acknowledged to the
Court the receipt of the Same fine being twenty five Shillings Cur.t
money of this province
