pounds of Tobacco costs accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court here at this day to wit the day and year last
mentioned That the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Elizabeth Carr into his Custody
and Execute the Punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring
her into Court againe of which precept to wit Joseph Young Gent. high Sherrif of
Kent County makes return on the day & year last Said that he hath Executed the
punishment in the Judgment afd and also hath here the Said Elizabeth Carr
before the Court

Lord prop.ry that now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath
do present that Katherin Banks late of Shrewsbury parish
in the County afd Spinster the tenth day of June Anno
Domini Seventeen hundred thirty & one at the parish afd in the County afd within the
Jurisdicion of this Court did Commit fornication with a person to the Jurors afd unknown
and did permitt the same unknown person then and there to have Carnal knowledge
of her body and to beget then and there a bastard child on the body of her the Same
Katherine to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all others
in Such case offending contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and
government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in that case made and provided
    Testes Peter Massy  On the back of the Same Indictment was endorsed as foll. viz.t
    A true bill Sam.l Wickes foreman
                                                        And the afd Katharine Banks in her proper person
came and Saith that she cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her brought
nor but that She is guilty of the premisses above upon her imposed as by the afd
Indictment it is alledged And thereupon Submits to the Court  Therefore it is Considered
by the Justices here to wit at a Court held for Kent County at the Court House
in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the twenty
first day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one  That the
afd Katharine Banks Receive on her bare back twenty one Lashes well laid
tell the blood appear as a Punishment for Committing the fornication afd in form afd
Confest  and also it is Considered that the afd Katharine Banks pay the Sum of two
hundred and fifty four pounds of tobacco costs accrueing on the premisses afd to the
officers of this Court            It is also Considered by the Court here at this day to
wit the day and Year last mentioned  That the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Katharine
Banks into his Custody and Execute the Punishment in the Judgment afd

Joseph Young Gent high Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day and Year
