Judgment afd Specified Off which pcept to wit Joseph Young Gent high Sherf of Kent County
makes return on the day and year last Said that he hath Executed the Punishm.t in y.e afd Judgment
and also hath here ready the Said Pat Carwack before the Court                Jo Young Sher

    Ordered by the Court here that Joseph Young Gent Sherf of Kent County being psent
in Court take the afd Patrick Carwack into his Custody and him Safe keep untill the fees afd

Kent County fs  The Jurors for the Right Honourable the Lord propry that
now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their oath do present that John
Harman late of S.t pauls parish in Kent County afd Labourer the tenth day
of Aprill Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty at the parish afd
in the County afd within the Jurisdicon of this Court two bushels of wheat
and one half bushel of wheat of the Value of one hundred and twenty pounds of Tobacco of
the goods & Chattles of Ralph Page then and there being found then and there feloniously
did Steal take and bear away Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord propry his good rule &
Governm.t and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such case made & provided &c.a
Test Robert Noble Joseph Dellafore                                        T ffrancis Cler. pacis
On y.e back of the preceeding Indictm.t was endorst as foll. viz.t A true bill by W.m Crowe foreman

    And the afd John Harman in his proper person comes and Saith that he is in no Sort guilty of
the premisses above him Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t it is alledged and thereof he
putteth himselfe upon the Country                                        John Harman in prop.r pson

    And he who followeth for the Lord p.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty    T ffrancis Cler. pacis

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County that he cause to come here twelve
&c.a By whom &c.a who neither &c.a To Recognize &c.a Because as well &c.a Off which Said pcept
the Sherf of Kent County to wit Joseph Young Gent now here to wit the Sixteenth day of
June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty came and made return thereof so that he
hath here ready twelve as by his pcept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to
wit the Same day & Year last Said came the Said Ld p.ry by the Attry afd and the afd
John Harman in his proper person and the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled
and Called likeways came to wit James Thomas Charles Smith John Cooper W.m Deane
Jeremiah Covington James Ringgold Jun.r Nich.o Reyley George Skill John Tucker Henry
Trulock Thomas Hatchenson & Thomas Husbands who being duely elected tryd & Sworn
to Say the truth in the premisses upon their Oath do say that the afd John Harman
is guilty of the felony whereof he Stands Indicted and by James Thomas there foreman
all So Say        Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the
Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in June
being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty
that the Said John Harman Stand in the pillory for the Space of one hour and
then for him to Receive at the publick whipping post on his bare back well laid
thirty one Lashes till the blood appear and and p as a punishment for his afd
Crime of Committing the felony afd According to the force form and Effect of the Verdict
of the Jurors afd And also pay the Sume of four hundred and twenty pounds of Tob.o
the four fold of the goods afd Stoln and also pay the Sume of five hundred Ninety
two pounds of Tobacco the Cost Accrueing on the pmisses afd to the officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court here to wit the Same day and Year last mentioned
that the Sherf of Kent County take the afd John Harman into his Custody and Execute
