for the collection and levying an additional tax on the assess-
able property of the Tenth (Potomac) District for the pay-
ment of said bonds and the interest coupons thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to put in
good repair and reconstruct the public highway known as the
Potomac Fike in said county beginning at a point on said road
where the same intersects with the conduit road for a distance
of about five miles where said road intersects with the Potomac
and Rockville Pike at Perry's Cross Roads and to use such
funds in whole or in part for said construction as herein pro-
vided for or the County Commissioners may pay over to the
State Roads Commission any part of the funds hereinafter re-
ferred to when the State Roads Commission shall take over, re-
construct and maintain said road as a part of the State high-
way system.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said County
Commissioners of Montgomery County are hereby authorized
and empowered to borrow money on the credit of said county a
sum not to exceed twenty-five thousand dollars and to issue
bonds therefor for the purposes as set forth in the preceding-
section, said bonds to be issued in such denominations and
series as the County Commissioners may direct and at a rate of

interest not exceeding five per centum per annum. That all
bonds issued under the provisions of this Act shall be issued in
conformity with a resolution of the County Commissioners

setting forth the number and amount of said bond, how the
same shall be paid and retired, together with the coupons there-
on and in such series and denomination as the County Com-
missioners shall prescribe.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners may in their discretion pay over to the State Roads
Commission such amount of the proceeds from the sale of said
bonds issued as in the opinion of the County Commissioners
will be necessary and requisite to reconstruct said road for the
purpose that the same may be taken over by the State Roads
Commission as a part of the system of State highway or the
County Commissioners may in their discretion from the funds
so derived from the sale of such bonds repair or reconstruct
said road without the aid of the State Roads Commission.
