in said town which runs through Block No. 16 of said town
of Takoma Park, and to levy sufficient funds to take over,
maintain, repair and keep open for public travel the said
part of said avenue."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted Ity the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 447 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1918, entitled "An Act to authorize, empower
and direct the Mayor and Common Council of the town of
Takoma Park in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties,
to take over, maintain, repair and keep open for public travel
the road known as that part of Popla'r Avenue in said town
which runs through Block No. 16 of said town of Takoma
Park, and to levy sufficient funds to take over, maintain, repair
and keep open for public travel the said part of said avenue,"
be, and the same is hereby, repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all
the members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assemblv, the same shall take effect from the date of its

passage.

CHAPTER 257.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 175
of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Li-
censes," as said section was amended by Chapter 504 of the
Acts of 1920, fixing the license fees for soda fountains in
towns and unincorporated places having a population of less
than one thousand.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 175 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, title "Licenses," as said section was amended by
Chapter 504 of the Acts of 1920, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read as follows:

175. Each person, firm or corporation operating a soda
fountain in this State shall, before doing so, take out a license
therefor for the privilege of conducting such business and pay-
