CHAPTER 28.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Wicomico County, Maryland, to construct and maintain
a new drawbridge over the north prong of the Wicomico
River, in the City of Salisbury in said county, where Main

Street crosses said north prong, on the location of the pres-
ent bridge or near thereto, and to authorize the said Com-
missioners to remove the present bridge and to erect it at a
point called the Wetipquin Ferry or elsewhere.

WHEREAS, The present drawbridge is inadequate for the
purpose of travel over same and to repair the present bridge
and approaches thereto would require great expense to make it
sufficient and secure for travel and use, therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Wicomico County,
Maryland, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered
to construct and maintain a new drawbridge over the north
prong of the Wicomico River, in the City of Salisbury in said
county, where Main Street crosses said north prong, on the
location of the present bridge or near thereto.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Wicomico County be and they are hereby
authorized and empowered to advertise in such newspapers as
they deem best for bids, to erect such bridge as may be neces-
sary to carry out the requirements of this Act. Said bridge
may be either pivot or lift—bids to be accompanied by plans
and specifications. The said Commissioners to have the right
to reject any or all bids received by them. In case all bids are
rejected, said County Commissioners may contract without
further advertising for erection of said bridge.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Wicomico County be and they are hereby
authorized and directed to levy on the property in said county,
subject to taxation for other county purposes whatever sum of
money may be requisite to pay the expenses incurred in and
about the planning and advertising and negotiating for said
bridge, and the costs of said bridge, the said taxes so levied to
be a lien on the property in said county as other county taxes
are now, and to be collected by the Treasurer of said county as
other taxes are now collected. Provided, that said County
Commissioners may levy all or such part of the amount re-
