mitsburg, " by adding a new section thereto, giving women
equal rights with men to vote in any town election, to imme-
diately follow Section 164 thereof, as codified by Chapter
86 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1916,
to be designated 164A.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article XI of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Frederick County, " sub-title "Emmitsburg, "
be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new section
thereto, giving women equal rights with men to vote in town
elections, to follow immediately after Section 164 thereof, as
codified by Chapter 86 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland of 1918 to be designated Section 164A and to read
as follows:

Section 164A. That, female citizens of the town of Emmits-
burg, above twenty-one years of age who shall have resided in
said town for twelve months next, preceding a town election,
shall be qualified to register as voters of said town and to vote
in town elections the same as male citizens of the said town.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public safety, and being passed upon
a "yea" and "nay" vote supported by three-fifths of all mem-
bers elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly
the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 13th, 1922.

CHAPTER 138.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Article 13,
Section 406, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Harford County, " sub-title "Justices of the Peace and
Constables, " providing for the number of justices of the
peace for said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 406, Article 13 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Harford County, " sub-title "Justices
of the Peace and Constables, " be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:
