cil of Cumberland, a salary of nine hundred ($900) dollars
per annum, payable monthly, and who shall attend at such
times and places and perform such duties as may be directed
by said Magistrate, and who shall be removable by said Magis-
trate at his direction, — and in assessing the costs in such cases
as may come before him, said Magistrate shall allow the same
rate per diem for attendance of witnesses and mileage as is
allowed by the Circuit Court for Allegany County, which shall
be paid by the Board of County Commissioners of Allegany
County in the same manner as paid to witnesses before said
Circuit Court. No witnesses shall be paid either mileage or
attendance who shall not have been regularly summoned by said
Magistrate.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1922.

CHAPTER 22.
AN ACT to create and establish a new election district in Gar-
rett County, to be known as Avilton District No. 15, and to
provide for the proper registration of the legal and qualified
voters therein.

CHAPTER 23.
AN ACT to amend Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, entitled "Frederick County, " sub-title "Coun-
ty Commissioners, " as enacted by the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland of 1888, and amendments thereto, by add-
ing a new section thereto to follow Section 152K and to be
designated as Section 152L, for the purpose of providing for
the issuing of permits by the County Commissioners of Fred-
erick County to persons and corporations erecting, or re-
pairing any building in Frederick County at an expense of
two hundred and fifty dollars or more.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
