gations which are incurred under the provisions of the afore-
going section, the said County Commissioners of Washington
County, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to
levy and collect annually on the assessable property of the
county, a sum of money sufficient to meet the obligations in-
curred by the County Commissioners under the provisions of
the aforegoing section.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That this Act shall take effect from June 1, 1922.

CHAPTER 95.

AN ACT authorizing and empowering the Mayor and Council
of Hagerstown, in Washington County, Maryland, to levy
and collect annually a sum of money in aid of the mainte-
nance of the Washington County Free Library in addition
to the sum now authorized to be levied and collected for that
purpose.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown, in Washing-
ton County, Maryland, be and they are hereby authorized and
empowered to levy and collect annually upon the assessable
property of Hagerstown the sum of $1, 000. 00 for the care
and maintenance of the said the Washington County Free
Library, in addition to the amount heretofore authorized to
be contributed.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of carrying out the additional obli-
gations incurred under the provisions of the aforegoing section
the said, the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown in Washington
County, Maryland, be and they are hereby authorized and em-
powered to levy and collect, annually, on the assessable prop-
erty of the City of Hagerstown, a sum of money sufficient
to meet the obligations incurred by the said the Mayor and
Council of Hagerstown under the provisions of the aforegoing;
section.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from June 1, 1922.
