powered to sell and dispose of said bonds to raise the money
to carry into effect the provisions of this Act; provided that
said bonds shall not be sold below ninety-seven and one-half
per centum of their face value and accrued interest.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
Common Council of Mt. Rainier is hereby authorized, em-
powered and directed to annually levy and collect a tax at
such a rate as will be sufficient to meet the interest on said bonds
and to provide a sinking fund for the redemption thereof at
maturity, such tax to be assessed at a certain rate per front
foot against the property contiguous to which the sewers and
the mains of the water and sewerage system of said town are
laid; provided that the rate of assessment on any newly con-
structed sewers and water mains shall be uniform with the as-
sessments levied against the property contiguous to the sewers
and water mains heretofore built. The amount assessed against
any piece of property each year shall be and constitute a lieu
thereon, and the amount thereof shall be collected by the Mayor
and Common Council in the same manner as town taxes are
collected.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the bonds is-
sued under the authority of this Act shall be of denominations

of one thousand dollars and shall bear interest at the rate of
five and one-half per centum per annum, payable semi-annu-
ally, for which interest coupons shall be attached, bearing the
printed, lithographed or engraved signatures of the Mayor and
Town Clerk and Treasurer. The bonds shall be numbered con-
secutively from 1 to 40, and shall be payable as follows: Bond
numbered 1, within two years after date of issue; bond num-
bered 2, one year thereafter; and each of the serially num-
bered bonds in consecutive order, one bond each year, except
that the bonds numbered 39 and 40 shall become due and pay-
0 able on the same date.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the proceeds of
the sale of said bonds shall be used for the following; purposes:

(a) Of the purchase of a site and the erection thereon of
a reservoir or tank of not less than one hundred thousand
gallons capacity.

(b) Of the laying of a water main of such size as may be
necessary from the pumping station of the water system to a
point on Thirty-fourth street, approximately one hundred feet
north of Date street.
