of a policeman by the Board of Police Examiners of Baltimore
County, and no such appointment shall be made until the ap-
plicant shall have filed with the County Commissioners a cer-
tificate from said Board of Police Examiners certifying that
they have examined and found the applicant physically ard
mentally qualified for the position.

CHAPTER 83.

AN ACT to authorize, empower and direct the County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County, in the State of Mary-
land, to build, erect and maintain a draw bridge over South
River, in the Second Election District of said County,
from the west side of said River at Riverview, to a point
connecting the Public Road at Tucker's Landing, im-
mediately opposite on the east side of said river, and at
a point which will give the most direct route of traffic
and shorten the distance in connection therewith to Anna-
polis City from said west side of South River; to issue
bonds, not exceeding Fifty Thousand ($50, 000. ) dollars,
for the purpose of erecting said bridge; to levy annually
a sum on the taxable property of said County to provide
for the maintenance of said bridge and said bonds as they
mature, and to authorize said County Commissioners to
make rules and regulations for the use of said bridge,
and protection of same.

WHEREAS, by Chapter 173 of the Acts of 1910, the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County were authorized and
directed to maintain and operate a ferry across South River, at
Taylorsville; and,

WHEREAS, the service of said ferry has proven inadequate,
in that is cannot accommodate the traffic there, and is danger
ous to the traveling public, as well as expensive; and,

WHEREAS, by Chapter 146 of the Acts of 1918. the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County were authorized, em-
powered and directed to build and maintain a draw bridge over
South River at Taylorsville, and to that end were authorized
to issue bonds to the extent of thirty thousand ($30, 000. ) dollars
