streets be improved to a greater width than as improved by
the State Road Commission, and that the sides of the said
streets be curbed, and

WHEREAS, knowing that the said streets could be best im-
proved, with less cost and expense, if done at the same time
that the work of the improving was being done by the State
Road Commission, the said Commissioners of Cambridge, pro-
ceeded to have the said streets improved to a sufficient width,
that is, one of them, Race Street, and both Washington and
Race Streets curbed where the said state road was built, the
work being done at the same time that the state road was built.
And

WHEREAS, the total cost of the additional improving of the
said Streets done by the said Commissioners, was the sum of
$9, 436. 56, of which sum the owners of the real property abut-
ting on the said streets paid one half of the cost of improving
the streets opposite such property, the owners of property on
each side of the said streets paying one fourth, and together
on both sides being one half, which amounted to $4, 111. 00, leav-
ing to be paid by the Commissioners of Cambridge the sum of
$5325. 56, which was greater than the amount paid by property
owners because of it being necessary to improve the said streets
at places where they were crossed or joined by other streets,
and in order to pay the said sum the said Commissioners were
compelled. to create an obligation on the part of the said town
which is now unliquidated. And

WHEREAS, it is necessary to complete the building with con-
crete the part of Washington Street traversed by the said state
road on each side thereof to the curb that has been made and
put down, which work will cost, for the town of Cambridge to
pay, about $4000. 00, and the said streets should be completed
as soon as possible. And

WHEREAS, it is necessary, for the safety of the public health
of the said town, that sewers be laid and put down in different
sections of the said town, as soon as such work can possibly be
done, which work will cost about $10, 000. 00. And

WHEREAS, in order to liquidate the debt on account of the
construction of the work hereinbefore named, and in order to
pay for work and material for the other public permanent im-
provements hereinbefore named, it is necessary that the said
Commisisoners of Cambridge borrow, on the faith and credit of
