power, saving and excepting, however, those provisions relating
to the charging of a pro rata portion of such registration fees
where registration is applied for on and after April 1st, and
those other provisions relating to refunds or portions of the
registration fees during the current year in certain cases it
being the intent of this Act that all such statements, discounts
or refunds shall be abolished in case of the reduced registration
fees herein authorized. Provided, however, that nothing herein
shall change or alter the license fees now provided by law for
vehicles using the public highways of the State and propelled
by steam or electricity.
SEC. 13. And be it further enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That on and after January 1, 1924, the
license fees for solid tire vehicles shall be as follows:
F'or each motor vehicle equipped wholly or in part with
solid tires propelled by other than internal combustible engines
and having a rated carrying capacity of not more than 2,000
pounds, $20.00; of not more than 3,000 pounds, $30.00; of
not more than 4,000 pounds, $40.00; of not more than 5,000
pounds, $50.00; of not more than 6,000 pounds, $60.00; of
not more than 7,000 pounds. $80.00; of not more than 8,000
pounds, $100.00; of not more than 9,000 pounds, $125.00; of
not more than 10,000 pounds, $150.00; and for each motor
vehicle equipped in whole or in part with solid tires propelled
by internal combustible engines and having a rated carrying
capacity of not more than 2,000 pounds, $10.00; of not more
than 3,000 pounds, $15.00; of not more than 4,000 pounds,
$20.00: of not more than 5,000 pounds, $25.00; of not more
than 6,000 pounds, $30.00; of not more than 7,000 pounds,
$40.00; of not more than 8,000 pounds, $50.00; of not more
than 9,000 pounds, $62.50; of not more than 10,000 pounds,
$75.00. Whenever the rated carrying capacity is in excess of
any of the above figures, the vehicle shall be rated at the next
higher rate. All vehicles requiring registration under this
class shall be plainly stamped with weight of chassis, manu-
facturer's body allowance, and rated capacity, and no such
vehicle shall be registered for carrying capacity in excess of
that so stamped upon it, but the Commissioner of Motor Vehi-
cles shall not be bound to accept such stamped weights or rated
carrying capacity as correct. Nothing in this Act shall be
construed to repeal or amend the existing law prescribing the
fees to be paid by motor vehicles used in the regular trans-
portation of passengers or freight on fixed schedules. The
