he is hereby authorized to pay to George W. Bowers the regular
pension which is paid to retired members of the police force
of said city of the same grade and rank; the said pension to be
paid at the same times and in the same manner as the other
pensions are paid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1922.

CHAPTER 516.
AN ACT to add a new and additional section to Article 56 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Licenses," sub-title
"Mode of Issuing—General Provisions," said new and ad-
ditional section to come in immediately after Section 6 of
said Article and to be designated as Section 6A; said new
and additional section providing for the appointment by the
Comptroller of a License Inspector and his compensation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new and additional section be and the same is
hereby added to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, title "Licenses," sub-title "Mode of Issuing—General
Provisions"; said new and additional section to come in im-
mediately after Section 6 of said Article, and to be designated
as Section 6A
6A. The Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to appoint some suitable person who
shall be attached to his office and who shall be designated as
an Inspector of State Licenses; the compensation of said in-
spector to be fixed in the budget to be submitted by the Gov-
ernor of Maryland and enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland and the Comptroller of the Treasury is hereby au-
thorized and empowered to superintend the issuance of all
licenses by the clerks of the several courts of this State, and
he is further empowered to investigate, through the said in-
spector to be appointed under this section, the adequacy of all
licenses applied for and issued by the clerks of the several
courts of this State to the end that all persons, firms and cor-
porations required to procure licenses under the laws of this
State shall procure the same according to the laws thereof, and
