property; for the year 1924 at eleven-twentieths (11/20) of one
cent on each one hundred dollars ($100.) of assessable prop-
erty; for the year 1925 at eleven-fifteenths (11/15) of one cent
on each one hundred dollars ($100) of assessable property; and
for the year 1926, and annually thereafter, to ;uid including
the year 1938, at one and one-fifth (1 1-5) cents on each one
hundred dollars ($100) of assessable property, to be collected
according to law, to meet the interest on the amount of said
certificates outstanding, and also to meet and redeem so much
of the principal in each of said years as may be represented by
certificates redeemable in each year, respectively, as herein
specified in Section 2 of this Act.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after the first day of June, 1922.

CHAPTER 465.

AN ACT to provide for the execution of all criminals sentenced
to death by the judgment of any Court of this State, at the
Maryland Penitentiiary, and denning the duty of the
Governor, the Court, the Sheriff and other officials with ref-
erence thereto, and providing for the payment of necessary
expense incident to the establishment of a suitable place at
the Maryland Penitentiary for the carrying: out of the pro-
visions of this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That if an offender, on conviction, may be sentenced to
suffer death, the Court before whom such offender shall be tried
and convicted, shall sentence him to suffer death by hanging
by the neck; and when a case has been removed for trial and
the party shall be sentenced to be hung, the Court shall remand
him to the place where the indictment was found, where such
offender shall remain in the custody of the Sheriff of that
county or city for disposition as hereinafter provided.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That punishment of
death must be inflicted within the walls of the building here-
inafter provided; and shall not be executed earlier than thirty
days after the sentence is pronounced.
