CHAPTER 50.

AN ACT to extend the franchise in the Parishes and Separate
Congregations of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the
State of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land: that on the petition of the Vestry of any Parish or Sep-
arate Congregation of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the
State of Maryland, the Convention of Diocese with which
said Parish or Separate Congregation is in union is hereby
authorized and empowered to give the same right to women
to vote and hold office as is now conferred upon men by exist-
ing laws.

Approved March 14, 1922.

CHAPTER 51.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 6 of
Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Li-
censes" sub-title "Mode of Issuing—General Provisions" so
as to provide for prosecution of all persons or corporations
failing to secure licenses as required by law.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 6 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, title "Licenses" sub-tile "Mode of Issuing—General
Provisions" be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
so as to read as follows:

6. It shall be the duty of the Sheriffs and Constables of
the several counties and Baltimore City and the agents and
inspectors of the State Tax Commission of Maryland to make
diligent inquiry of all persons, firms and corporations doing
business in this State, and apprehend and take before some
Justice of the Peace, all persons, firms and corporations found
doing business without a license, as may be required by law, to
be committed or held to bail for appearance at the succeeding
term of the Circuit Court for the county or Criminal Court of
Baltimore City to answer the charge of selling goods without
a license; and upon conviction of any person, firm or corpora-
tion for doing business without a license, as required by law, a
fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100) shall be
