dollars of assessable property, to be collected according to
law, to meet the interest on the amount of said certificates out-
standing, and also to meet and redeem so much of the prin-
cipal, in each of said years, as will be represented by certi-
ficates redeemable in each year, respectively, as herein speci-
fied in Section 22 of this Act.
SEC. 28. And be it further enacted, That if the taxes im-
posed by the pro^sions of this Act shall be insufficient to meet
the interest on the said bonds or certificates, and to pay the
bonds or certificates as they mature, the General Assembly of
Maryland, at its next regular session beginning in January
1924, shall make proper provision, by way of levy or levies
or in such other manner as may be adequate, for the prompt
payment of the interest as and when due and payable, and for
the prompt payment of the principal at the time or times
named for the maturity thereof, of such of the certificates of
indebtedness authorized by this Act as may then have been
issued, to the end that the interest on and the principal of
any and all certificates issued under this Act may be promptly
paid as and when respectively due and payable, to the making
of which payments, as and when due and payable, the faith
and credit of the State of Maryland is firmly and irrevocably
pledged; and. in the event that any such interest or the prin-
cipal of any of laid certificates be or become due and payable
before provision therefor has been made by the General As-
sembly of Maryland of 1924, as aforesaid, then the same shall
be promptly paid from monies in the Treasury available for
such purpose, to the making of which payments, as and when
due and payable, the faith and credit of the State of Maryland
is firmly and irrevocably pledged.
SEC. 29. And be further enacted, That this Act shall, at
the general election to be held on the Tuesday after the first
Monday in November, 1922, be submitted to the legal and quali-
fied voters of the State for their approval or rejection.
The Supervisors of Elections of the City of Baltimore and
of the several Counties shall have printed upon the ballots to
be used at said election in November, 1922, the following words:
For Soldiers' Bonus.
Against Soldiers' Bonus.
The Supervisors of Elections of the City of Baltimore and
of the several Counties shall canvass the returns and certify
the number of votes cast for and against this Act in the same
