C H A P.
XLVI.

the streets, lanes and alleys thereof, (unless the same be already done so as to be satisfactory to the
said commissioners, or a majority of them,) at the proper costs and expences of the said Thomas C.
Earle, William Chambers, Robert Goldsborough and William Carmichael, according to their respec-
tive number of acres, in such manner as to the said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall seem
convenient, proper and right, and when the same shall have been so done as aforesaid, the said par-
cel of land shall be, and is hereby declared to be, part of the town of Centre- Ville aforesaid, to all
intents and purposes, as fully and amply as if originally included therein, and have the same immu-
nities and privileges, and be subject to the same rules and regulations, as the rest of the said town,
by any law or laws heretofore made, or hereafter to be made, shall or ought to have.

And return a
certificate, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners aforesaid shall, on or before the first day of
July next, return a correct and accurate certificate and plot of the said lands, so laid out as aforesaid,
to the clerk of Queen-Anne's county court, who is hereby required to record the same among the
land records of the said county, and to keep the original certificate and plot in his office, and a cer-
tified copy of the original, or the record thereof, shall be conclusive evidence of the boundaries,
situation and location, of the said lots, and of the streets, lanes and alleys thereof.

C H A P. XLVII.

Passed Janua-
ry 12, 1805.

An ACT to lay out and open a public road from Queen's-town, in
Queen-Anne's county, to Queen's-town creek, near the said town.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Queen- Anne's county, that the public convenience would be greatly promoted by opening
and establishing a public road from QueenVtown, in the said county, to Queen's-town creek, near
the said town; therefore,

Commissioners
appointed, &c.

IT. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Thomas L. Emory, Charles Brown,
Richard Thomas, John W. Emory and James Emory, be and they are hereby appointed commission-
ers to survey, lay out? clear and open, at the expense of those persons who shall conceive them-
selves benefitted thereby, a roact, not exceeding thirty feet wide, clear of ditches, beginning at
Queen's-town, in Queen-Anne's county, and running to some convenient landing on Queen's -town
creek, near the said town, through the land of Richard Hall, junior, and near his dwelling-house.

Who are to
make a plot,
&c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall and they
are hereby directed and required, to make, or cause to be made, a plot of the said roact, when sur-
veyed as aforesaid, and shall make return of the said plot, together with a certificate of the courses
of the said roact, to the clerk of Queen-Anne's county, to be recorded among the records of said
county, and when the same shall have been laid out, cleared, made and opened, as directed by this
act, the said road shall for ever thereafter be deemed a public highway, and shall be kept in repair
as other public roads of Queen- Anne's county; provided, that the said commissioners shall not lay
out and open the said road through the buildings, gardens, orchards or meadows, of the said Ri-
chard Hall, junior, without his consent.

How vacancies
are to be filled.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any of the commissioners named in this aft shall die, re-
sign, or refuse to act, the remaining commissioners, or a majority of them, shall and they are here-
by authorised to supply such vacancy by the appointment of another person.

CHAP. XL VIII.

Passed Janua-
ry 12, 1805.

An ACT to incorporate the stockholders in the Union Bank of Ma-
ryland.

Preamble.

WHEREAS the president and directors of the Union bank of Maryland, on behalf of themselves
and other proprietors of stock in said bank, have petitioned this general assembly, setting
forth, that sundry persons, by articles of voluntary association, have contracted and agreed each
with the other, to conduct and carry on the usual operations of the banking system at the city of
Baltimore, under the name and style of The President and Directors of the Union Bank of Mary-
land, and praying that an act may pass to incorporate the stockholders in the said bank; and the
same being reasonable, therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said bank shall be and the same
is hereby established at the city or precincts of Baltimore, at the discretion of the president and di-
rectors, and the capital stock of the said bank shall consist of three millions of dollars, money of
