tioned : And whereas it is represented to this general assembly, that from the dispersed situations
of said trustees or visitors it is found difficult to convene a majority of them together, so as to carry
the provisions of the said acr into effect; therefore,

CHAP.
LXXII.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for any
three or more of said trustees or visitors, upon giving bond in such penalty, and on such condition,
as are by said act required to be given by the trustees or visitors of said school, or a majority of
them, to exercise all and singular the powers vested by the second and third sections of said act in
the trustees or visitors of said school, or a majority of them, any thing in any act to the contrary
notwithstanding.
CHAP. LXXIII.

Three trustees
may act, &c.

An ACT to empower the levy court of Anne-Arundel county to
assess and levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned.

WHEREAS Sarah Jones, of Anne-Arundel county, by her petition to this general assembly
hath set forth, that she is, through old age and infirmities, rendered incapable of maintain-
ing herself, and also states, that she has a daughter named Sarah, far advanced in years, who has
been blind for a considerable time past, by which she also has been rendered incapable of supporting
herself, and prays that a law may pass for their support out of the poor-house; and the prayer of the
said petitioner appearing reasonable, therefore,

Preamble;

II. BE IT ENAGTID, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the levy court of Anne-Arundel
county shall be and they are hereby directed and required, at their levy courts annually, so long as
they may see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property of said county a sum of money,
not exceeding sixty dollars, for the support of said Sarah Jones and daughter out of the poor-house,
and that the same be collected and paid annually to the aforesaid Sarah Jones by the collector or col-
lectors of Anne-Arundel county, agreeably to the order of the levy court aforesaid.

CHAP. LXXIV.

Court to asses-
money, &c

A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
Judith G. Moale and Thomas Moale, of the city of Baltimore, to
lease and demise the real estate of Richard Halton Moale, deceased,
for the purposes therein mentioned.

Passed 8th of
January, 1803.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That in case of the death, resignation, or
refusal to act, of the said Judith C. Moale or Thomas Moale, or either of them, as trustees
aforesaid, during the minority of the said heirs, it shall and may be lawful for the chancellor for the
time being, and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to appoint a trustee or trustees from time
to time to fill such vacancy or vacancies, as often as they shall happen, and the said trustee or trus-
tees so to be appointed shall be of the next of kin, by the father's side, of the said heirs.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustee or trustees, so to be appointed, shall be and the
same are hereby vested with all the powers and authorities specified in the said original act, and they
shall also be subject to the like responsibility and control as therein is provided.

CHAP. LXXV.

Who shall be
vested with
powers, &c.

An ACT to lay out and open a public road from the farm of Charles
Sewel to the farm of John Chairs, junior, in Queen-Anne's county.

Passed 8th of
January, 1803.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Queen Anne's county, that they sustain great inconveniencies from the want of a road
being made public that now runs from the farm of Charles Sewel through the lands of Samuel T.
Wright, Nathan Godwin and William Clay ton, to the farm of John Chairs, junior, or so much
thereof as has not heretofore been made public; therefore,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Philip Fideman, William Hackett,
Samuel Nichols, Joshua Kennard and John Watson, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners
to survey, lay out, open and clear, a road, not exceeding thirty feet wide clear of ditches, beginning,
for the road to be laid out on the public road leading from Church hill to Centreville, at or near
