NOVEMBER. LAWS OF MARYLAND

CHAP.
LXX,

shall each be entitled to two electors, residents of the respective districts, as an elector or electors,

as the case may be, for choosing a president and vice-president of the United States.

When elctions
are to be held,

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the elections for said representatives of this state in congress, and
for said electors of the president and vice-president of the United States, shall be held in the several
counties of this state, and in the cities of Baltimore and Annapolis, which compose the said districts
respectively, at the times and in the manner, and according to the form, prescribed by the constitu-
tion and form of government, and the provisions of the act, entitled, An act to regulate elections,
passed at November session, seventeen hundred and ninety- nine, and the several supplements thereto

Laws, &c. re-
pealed.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all laws, clauses and sections of laws, contrary and repugnant
to this act, be and the same are hereby severally repealed, abrogated and annulled.

C H A P. LXXL

Passed 8th of
January, 1803.

An ACT to authorise the laying out a public road from the widow
Robinson's gate across Randall and Dobbin's milldam to Intersect
the mountain road at or near the methodist meeting-house, in
Anne-Arundel county.

Preamble

WHEREAS it has been represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabi-
tants of Anne-Arundel county, that they labour under great inconvenience for want of a
public road from the widow Robinson's gate to lead over Randall and Dobbin's milldam till it inter-
sects the mountain road at or near the methodist meeting house, and praying that a law may pass,
for that purpose; and the prayer of the petitioners being reasonable, therefore,

Commissioners
appointed, &c.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Francis Cromwell, Ephraim Du-
vall and Nathan Hancock, or any two of them, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to
lay out a public road, beginning at the widow Robinson's gate, and to run in a direction so as to-
cross over Randall and Dobbin's milldam, and to intersect the mountain road at or near the metho-
dist meeting-house; and in laying out the said road, the said commissioners are directed to take into
view, as well the disadvantages which may result to individuals over whose land the said road may
run, as the convenience of the public, so as to lay out the said road with as little injury to private-
property as will comport with the public convenience.

Who are to re-
turn a plot, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners, or any two of them, be and they are
hereby further directed to return a plot of said road, so by them laid out, to the clerk's office of said
county, to be there recorded; and the levy court may, at their discretion, after the return of said
plot as aforesaid, appoint a supervisor to open the same, and shall levy a sum of money, not ex-
ceeding eighty dollars, for that purpose; and the said road, when opened as aforesaid, shall be taken
for, and is hereby declared to be, a public road in said county, and may be repaired as other public
roads are repaired in said county; provided nevertheless, that nothing herein contained shall autho-
rise the said supervisor to open the said road, or the levy court to levy any sum of money for that
purpose, until the assent of every persoa through whose land the said road may pass be first had and
obtained, under the hand of every such person, and returned to the levy court aforesaid; and pro-
vided also, that nothing herein contained shall in any manner authorise the said commissioners to
lay out the said road through the lands of any infant, or person nan compos mentis.

Their allow-
ance.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners appointed in virtue of this act shall be en-
titled td an allowance of two dollars for every day they shall severally attend in discharge of the
duties herein imposed.

A Further additional supplement to the act entitled, An act for
erecting a public school in Frederick county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS by an act, entitled, An additional supplement to the act entitled, An act for
erecting a public school in Frederick county, passed at November session, eighteen hundred
and one, the trustees or visitors of Frederick, county school, or a majority of them, are authorised.
to propose a scheme of a lottery for raising a sum of money, not exceeding three thousand five hun-
dred dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof, for the uses and purposes therein men-
