Robert Hurd being in November last presented p
grand jury for Killing an Yearling Bull and cutting off his
Eares

Command was therfore Given to y.e sheerif of Kent County
the 25.th day of Jan.ry Anno Dom 1697 that he cause the
sd Robert Hurd soe that he be and appeare before his
Maj.ties Justices att y.e next &c.a to Answer unto such matters
as should be objected ag.t him &c.a

Att which Court viz the 15.th day of Feb.ry Anno Dom
1697 the day of the returne of sd Writt came Cap.t Edw.d
Sweatnam high sheerif of sd County and made returne
of sd Writt in these words viz    Cepi p Edw Sweatnam sheft

And now here att this day the sd Robert Hurd being called
to y.e Bar to Answer y.e above presentm.t (being formed into a
Bill by the Clk of y.e Indictm.ts) now appeares and the sd Bill
being Read in these words following viz

The Jurors for our Soveraigne Lord the King for Kent
County upon their Oathes doe present Robert Hurd otherwise
called Robert Hurd of sd County Plant.r for that he the sd
Robert on the 24.th day of November Anno Dom 1697
att Island Creek hundred in sd County within the Jurisdicon
of this Court one Yearling Bull of a person unknowne of
the value of One hundred poundes of Tobaccoe feloniously
did steale Kill and beare away and the Eares of the sd
Bull did Cutt off ag.t the peace of our Soveraigne Lord y.e
King and the Law in such case made and provided
