William Hollingsworth being in Novemb.r last presented p Grand
Jury for Killing an Yearling Bull and Cutting off his Eares

Command was therfore Given to the sheerif of Kent County
the 25.th day of November Anno Dom 1697 that he cause the sd
W.m Hollingsworth soe that he be and app.r before his Maj.ties Justices
att the next Court to Answer unto such matters &c.a

Att which Court viz the 15.th day of Feb.ry Anno Dom 1697
the day by adjournm.t appointed for Returne of sd Writt came
Cap.t Edward Sweatnam high sheerif of sd County and made
returne of sd Writt in these words viz Cepi p Edw Sweatnam
                                                                                    sheft

And the sd W.m Hollingsworth being called to the Barr to Answer
the sd p.rsentm.t (being by the clk of the Indictm.ts formed into
a Bill) now appeares and y.e sd Bill being read in these words

The Jurors for our Soveraigne Lord the King upon for
Kent County upon upon their Oathes doe present William
Hollingsworth otherwise called W.m Hollingsworth sen.r of sd
County Plant.r for that he the sd W.m on the 24.th day of Novemb.r
Anno Dom 1697 att Island Creek hundred in sd County within
the Jurisdicon of this Court One Yearling Bull of a person unkn
unknowne of the value of One hundred poundes of Tobbaccoe
Feloniously did steale Kill and beare away and the Eare
of the sd Bull did Cut off ag.t the peace of our soveraigne Lord
the King and the Law in such case made and provided

To which sd Indicmt.t the sd W.m Hollingsworth pleaded not
Guilty and for Tryal puts himselfe upon the Country
and the King in like manner                S Wilmer Clk
