This Indenture made y.e Five & Twentieth Day of August in y.e yeare
of our Lord Christ one thousand six hundred eighty & five and
in y.e tenth yeare of the Dominion of Charles Absolute Lord and
Proprietary of y.e Province of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron
of Baltemore: Between John Lillingston of y.e Province of Maryland
Clarke & Mary his wife of y.e one Partt & John Lean of
Plimouth in old England Mariner of y.e other part Witneseth
that y.e s.d John Lillingston in Consideration of y.e Quantity of
Five thousand pounds of good merchantable sound tobacco & Caske
to y.e s.d John Lillingston in hand Payed by y.e s.d John Lean before
the sealing & Delivery of these p.rsents y.e Receipt whereof he y.e
s.d John Lillingston Doth hereby acknowledg and thereof and
of every Parsell thereof Doth absolutely Discharge y.e s.d John
Lean his heirs executors & administrators and every of them
for ever: And for other good Causes him thereunto moving he
y.e s.d John Lillingston: by & with Consent of his wife Mary afore
s.d testefied by her signing & Sealing of these p.rsents hath given
granted Bargained & sold: & by these p.rsents Doth absolutly
give grant bargain & sell unto y.e s.d John Lean his heirs and assigns
for ever all that tract or Parcell of Land Called Lillingstons Lott
lying in Kent County on the North Side of Chester river begining
att A marked oake standing by y.e River side being y.e uppermost
bounds of A parsell of Land formerly Laid out for Mathew Ward Cath
Ward oake: And runing w.th y.e s.d Land into y.e woods North Northwest
three hundred & twenty Pearches: and from y.e end of y.e s.d Line by a
Line Drawn east north east one hundred Pearches: then by a line drawn
south south east three hundred & twenty pearches to a marked oake
& from y.e s.d oake Down y.e River to y.e First bounded tree Containing
& Layed out for two hundred acres more or less togather with all & singuler
profits Comodities hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to y.e s.d
p.rmises belonging And also all y.e Right title Interest and Demand whatsoever
of him y.e s.d John Lillingston of in or to y.e same: and all pattents
writtings deeds evidences and survaies whatsoever touching y.e p.rmises
To have & to hold y.e s.d two hundred acres of Land & all & singuler
the p.rmises hereby granted unto y.e s.d John Lean and his heirs forever
to be holden of y.e Manor of Baltimore by y.e Rents & services Due
