This Indenture made this thirteth Day of May and in y.e tenth
yeare of y.e Dominion of the Right Honr.bl Charles Absolute Lord &
Proprietary of y.e Province of Maryland Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore
& in y.e yeare of our Lord Christ one thousand six hundred eight & five on & beteen
John Ellis of y.e County of Kent Carpenter of y.e one partt & Michaell Miller of
y.e same County Gent of y.e other Parte
Witnesseth that he y.e s.d John Ellis for & in Consideration of y.e sume of twelve
thousand pounds of tobacco to him the s.d John Ellis by the s.d Michaell
Miller y.e Receip.t whereof y.e s.d John Ellis Doth acknowledg himselfe there
with fully satisfyed Contented & Payed & thereof & of every partt and
Parsell Doth fully thereof Doth fully clearely absolutely Exonerate acquit
& Discharge y.e s.d Michaell Miller his heirs executors or Assignes for
ever And by these p.rsents hath given granted bargained sold Enfeoffed &
Confirmed And Do by these p.rsents Give Grant bargaine sell Enfeoffee &
Confirme unto him y.e s.d Michaell Miller his heirs executors or assignes
for ever all y.t persell or tract of Land lyeing on Kent Island on the
west side of of y.e s.d Island Called & Comonly knowne by the name of
Coopers free hold: Containing by estemation Eighty acres and
bounded according to Patten & also one hundred acres of Land
Called Crayford lyeing and being in Kent Island bounded as followeth
on y.e North w.th y.e Land of James Ringgold on y.e west w.th Chesepeak
bay on y.e south w.th Coopers free hold: Together all & singuler
y.e Rights & benefitts thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining
as also also all Deeds writtings Pattents Evidences manscripts touching
or in any wayes Concerning the p.rmises or any part or parsell of them
with all & singuler y.e Rights members Jurisdicttions priviledges or
Proffitts or benefitts thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining
To have & To hold y.e s.d two parsells or tracts of Land and all
& singuler y.e before bargained p.rmises unto him the s.d Michaell
Miller his heirs executors or assignes for ever & y.e s.d John Ellis
Doth for himselfe his heirs executors or Administrators hereby Covinant
& grant to & with y.e s.d Michaell Miller his heirs executors or
administrators y.t he y.e s.d John Ellis his heirs executors or adminis.rs
y.e s.d two parsels or tracts of Land unto him y.e s.d Michaell Miller
his heirs executors or assignes shall & will against all manner of persons
warrant & Defend by these p.rsents y.e Rents & services w.ch from time to
time shall become Due and payable unto y.e L.d propriatory only
excepted & foreprized and further y.e s.d John Ellis his heirs
executors or Admn.rs shall & will att all times hereafter
