Kent fs     John Oliver of Kent County Mariner stands Attached to
                Answer unto Henry Land of a plea of Trespasse upon y.e case

And whereupon the said Henry by W.m Hemsley his Att.ry complains
and saith that whereas the said John Oliver the 30.th day of October
Anno Dom 1696 in sd County within the Jurisdicon of this Court
stood Justly indebted unto the sd Henry Land in the full and Just
sume of Eight poundes Twelve shillings and Eleaven pence
sterl money by Ball.a of Acc.ts the perticulers therof are here
in Court brought in consideracon therof the said John upon
himselfe Assumed and to the sd Henry faithfully promised that he
the sd Jn.o the sd sume of 8.ll 12.s 11.d unto the sd Henry he would
well and truely pay when therunto required Yett Nevertheless y.e sd
Jn.o the sd sume of 8.ll 12.s 11.d according to his promise and assumption
aforesd unto the sd Henry he hath not paid alltho often required due
the same to pay he hath denied and refused to the damage of the
sd Henry sixteene pound sterl and therupon he bringeth this suit
                    Hemsley p q.r pledges &c.a Jn.o Doe Ri Roe

And y.e said John Oliver appearing to y.e same but haveing filed no
plea nor makeing any reasonable defence ag.t y.e ^same^ Judgm.t is awarded
for the sd sume of 8.ll 12.s 11.d and cost of suit

Therfore it is considered by this Court that the Plt Henry Land
doe recover from the Defend.t John Oliver as well the aforesd sume
of Eight poundes Twelve shillings and Eleaven pence as allsoe
the sume of Two hundred Forty and Three poundes of Tobaccoe
cost of suit
