687 Command was given to the sheerif of Kent County the 22.th day of September Anno Dom 1696 that he take Daniel Norris if he should be found in his Bailiwick and him safe Keepe soe that he have his body before his Maj.ties Justices att the Next Court to be held for said County to Answer unto William Hemsley &c.a of a plea of the Case att which Court viz the 27.th day of October Anno Dom 1696 the day of returne of the aforesaid Writt came Capt Edward Sweatnam high sheerif of said County and made returne of the said Writt in these following Wordes viz Cepi p Edw Sweatnam sheff And the said Daniel Norris by Matthew Eareckson appeares and imparls until the Next Court the same day is given to the plt likwise but was continued from Court to Court until this present day
Kent fs Daniel Norris of Kent County Gent standes Attached to Answer to William Hemsley one of the Attornies of this Court according to the liberties and priviledges accustomed of a plea of Trespasse upon the case And whereupon the sd William in his pp person complains that Whereas the said William the 20.th day of August Anno Dom 1695 was possessed as of his Owne goods and Chattels of one book Treating of Architecture called Vignola att large with many droughts and sculptures therin contained of the value of Four pound sterl which was casually left out of the hands and possession of him the William which afterwards viz on the 10.th day of May Anno Dom 1696 att Chester River within the Jurisdicon of this Court by finding came to the hands and possession of the said Daniel Norris Yett Neverthelesse the said Daniel well Knowing the said booke to be the pper goods ^& chattels^ of him the said William and to him of right to pteine Yett the same to the said William to deliver he hath denied and refused to the damage of the said William Eight poundes of sterl and therupon he brings this suit Hemsley p p.r psona Jn.o Doe Ri Roe |
