Command was given to the sheerif of Kent County the 22.th day
of September Anno Dom 1696 to take the Body of Robert Draughton
if he should be found in his Bailiwick and him safe Keepe soe
that he have his Body before his Maj.ties Justices the Next Court to
be held for said County to Answer unto Thomas Withersby of a plea
of Debt &c.a

att which said Court viz the 27.th day of October Anno Dom
1696 the day of returne of the said Writt came Capt Edward
Sweatnam high sheerif of said County and returned the writt
aforesaid in those Following Wordes viz Cepi Corpus p Edw
Sweatnam sheff

But the said Robert Draughton not appearing according to y.e
Ten.r of the said Writt the Plt by William Hemsley his Attorney
prayed Assignement of the Bail Bond which was accordingly
by the said Court ordered and by the sheerif performed which
Bond being put in suit the said Robert Draughton att a
Court held for said County the 25.th day of November 1696
appeared in his proper person and M.r Elias King became Especial
Bail for him the said Defend.t and to the Court promised that
he the said Defend.t should pay condemnacon if cost or he would
doe it for him and the said Defend.t imparled until next Court viz

Kent fs  Robert Draughton otherwise called Robert Draughton late
of said County sayer was summoned to Answer unto Thomas
Withersby of a plea that he render him the full and just sume of
sixteen hundred Twenty and Eight poundes of Tobaccoe which
to him he Oweth & from him he unjustly deteines
                                                                                    And
