66 To y.e Hono.rble Thomas Nothy Esq.r Cheiff Govern.r of y.e Province & y.e Honnor.ble y.e Councell The Humble Petition of y.e Inhabitants of y.e Isle of Kent Humbly sheweth That upon A former Address of y.e Petition.rs yo.r Hon.rs Were favorably Ceased to Ordr that y.e Island of Kent should be Erectted into A County Wherein there are more then one hundred taxable persons yo.r Petiton.rs Upon A searious Consideration of y.e great Chargis that Will Arise by the maintenance of Deligats bolids County Levy & other Charges & y.e small number of tithables for Paying the same Doe humbly Request That y.e s.d County may Remaine as now it is & also that y.e Courtt: And also that the Courtt may be Kept Upon y.e Island of Kent as formerly or otherwise where the same is now Kept By his Lordship.s ord.r here to fore made And as in Duly bound they shall peay &c
The Uper house of Assembly Novemb.r y.e 12 1678 Provided it may be Left to the Discretion of every County: one: two: or more Deligats as they shall thinke fitt not Exeeding y.e number of Fewer to serve for their County in y.e Assemblys: Then this house ^and^ of an opinion that it may be Convenient for y.e Island of Kent to be one Intire County & that y.e Rest of y.e s.d County be included into some other County Contigent or Erectted Into A new County of it selfe
