of the same for such like offences made and provided Yett Neverthelesse
the said William Jones being not ignorant of the
p.rmises but envieing the happy Estate and condicon of the
said Ralph and Malitiously intending not ondly to depraive
him the sd Ralph of his good Name fame Credit Estimacon
and repute aforesaid and to bring and induce him the said
Ralph into the hate and Evil opinion of all his Neighbors
and other worthy person of this Nation but allsoe innocetly
to cause him to be brought into danger of forfeiting of
all and singuler his goods chattels lands and tenem.ts and loosing
of his life on the 8.th day of July Anno Dom 1696 att
Chester River in sd County within the Jurisdicon of this Court
these falce feigned and scandelous approbious words Following
then and there haveing speech and communicacon with
divers Faithfull and worthy persons of this Nation then and
there being p.rsent and heareing openly publickly and with
a loud voice did proclaime say affirme declare and publish
that he the said Ralph meaning him the sd Ralph now plantif
that he the said Ralph att the time aforesd had liveing Two
wives the one liveing in Virginia & in good health and the other
att the time aforesd with him att his plantacon in Chester River
within the Jurisdicon of this Court which words as they are
spoken ag.t the sd plt amounts to the words and intent of the
statute of Bigamus which is felony wheras in truth the said
Ralph no murther felony slaying poysoning dishonesty
incest fornicacon adultery incontinency poligamy light
behavior or carriage or any other such wicked and base crimes ever
committed or perpetrated by reason of the saying speaking
affirmeing declareing and publishing of which falce feigned
scandalous infamacy and approbius words the said Ralph is not
ondly hurt and damnified in his good Name same Credit &
Estimacon aforesd amongst his Neighbors and other worthy
and faithfull persons of this Nation to whome the innocency of
the said Ralph in this behalfe was unknone who before the
publishing and speaking of the words aforesaid word used to
Keepe company consent and have familiarity with the sd
Ralph & with him the sd Ralph before that time used to
Negotiate deale contract bye and sell with but allsoe
