62 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1808.

store lost and erring man to the paths of virtue, and to convert offenders into useful members of society. In

order, therefore, to complete this highly laudable institution, they would beg leave to recommend, and submit
for your adoption, the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay unto
the commissioners appointed to superintend the erection of a Penitentiary, the sum of —— thousand dollars out
of any unappropriated money in the treasury.

All which is submitted.

Which was read.

The house resumed the consideration of the bill to regulate the fees of the register of the court of chancery,
and, on motion, the amendment proposed to the title on yesterday was withdrawn.

The bill being read throughout, the question was put, That the further consideration of the same be referred
to the first day of April next? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

Mr. J. H. Thomas, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to incorporate a com-
pany for the purpose of building a bridge over the river Susquehanna; which was read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.

Mr. Bland, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to extend the time for the
president, managers and company, of the Fails turnpike road, to complete the said road; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill confirming the title of James Kent, Thomas Kent, Francis Kent, William Coleman, and the heirs of
James Kent, the elder, to the lands therein mentioned, was read the second time, and passed.

The bill for the benefit of the children of Isaac Landsdale, deceased, of Prince-George's county, was read
the second time by especial order, and passed.

On motion. Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to regulate the fees of the solicitors in the court
of chancery. ORDERED, That Mr. Stevens, Mr. Seth and Mr. Spencer, be a committee to prepare and bring
in the same.

The bill for the relief of John Scott, of the city of Baltimore, was read the second time, and passed.
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

SATURDAY, December 17, 1808.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The bill for the relief of John Scott, of the city of Baltimore, the bill for the benefit of the children of Isaac
Lansdale, of Prince George's county, the bill confirming the title of James Kent, Thomas Kent, Francis Kent,
William Coleman, and the heirs of James Kent, the elder, to the lands therein mentioned, the bill to regulate
the fees of the register of the court of chancery, and the bill to re-value the work done on the Baltimore and
York-town turnpike road, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Porter, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act directing the register of the
land-office of the western shore to issue a patent to George Churchman, and others, for the land or lot therein
mentioned; which was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the
clerk.
