teen shillings and four-pence current money, it being the amount of a. certificate issued by the auditor-general
of this state, and purchased by the said John Smith Brooks.

Which was read.

The Supplement to an act, entitled, An act authorising the proprietor ef the French-town and New-Castle
water and land stages to open a road from French-town, in Caecil county, to intersect the divisional line between
this state and the state of Delaware at a road laid out by the commissioners of New-Castle county, in the state
of Delaware, was read the second time and passed.

The house, according to the order of the day, proceeded to the second reading of the bill to alter, change

and abolish, all such parts of the constitution and form of government as relate to the time of the meeting of
the general assembly, and for other purposes, and the question put, That the further consideration ef the same
be postponed until the first of June next? Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the first clause be stricken out? to wit: "Be it enacted, by the General
Assembly of Maryland, That the time of the annual meeting of the general assembly shall be on the first Mon-
day in December in each year, instead of the first Monday in November, as is now prescribed by the consti-
tution and form of government. " The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative,

A petition from the regents of the medical college of medicine of Maryland, praying a law may pass autho-
rising a lottery to raise a sum of money to build a house tor the benefit of the same, was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. King, Mr. Stone and Mr. Steuart, to consider and report thereon.

A memorial from the president and managers of the Baltimore and Frederick-town turnpike road, praying a
supplementary law vesting them with power of locating the road from Frederick-town to Hagar's-town, and
from Frederick-town to William's Port, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Hawkins,
Mr. Bowles, Mr. Biggs and Mr. Tabbs, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Henry Counselman, of Montgomery county, an old soldier, praying relief, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Carroll, Mr. Winder and Mr. Belt, to consider and report thereon.

The house resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bill to confirm and make public a certain road
therein mentioned; Mr, Winder in the chair. After sometime spent therein, the speaker resumed the chair, and
Mr. Winder reported, that the committee had taken the same into consideration and made some amendments
thereto, and reported the said bill as amended.

The said bill being read the second time, the question was put, Shall the said bill pass? Resolved in the affir-
mative.

A petition from Peter Cruson, of Queen-Anne's county, praying the levy court of said county may levy a sum
of money tor the support of the infant daughter of John Shaw, deceased, was preferred, read, and referred to
Mr. Sudler, Mr. J. E. Spencer and Mr. Bowles, to consider and report thereon.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

FRIDAY, January 8, 1808,

THE house met. Present the. same members ap on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read,
The supplement to an act, entitled, An act authorising the proprietors of the French-town and New-Castle
water and land stages to open a road from French-town, in Caecil county, to intersect the divisional line between
this state and the state of Delaware at a road laid out by the commissioners of New-Castle county, in the state
of Delaware, the further supplement to the act, entitled, An act to incorporate companies to make several turnpike
roads through Baltimore county, and for other purposes, and the bill to confirm and make public a certain load
therein mentioned, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

The report of the committee on the petition of Richard Butler, was read the second time, and the resolution
therein contained dissented from.

On the second reading of the bill for the benefit of John Schnebly, Jacob Schnebly, David Schnebly, and the
children of Jacob Barnett, of Washington county, devisees of doctor Henry Schnebly, late of said county, the
following amendment was proposed and received to said bill, viz.

Strike out the word "therefore" in page 2d in the 1st line of the first enacting clause and insert it at the end
of the preamble of the bill.
