Mr. Little, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the said bill; which was read the first time and order-
ed to lie on the table.
Mr. Steuart, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further additional supplement to
the act, entitled, An act to erect Baltimore-town, in Baltimore county, into a city, and to incorporate the inha-
bitants thereof; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
ORDERED, That the same have a second reading on Friday next.
On the second reading of the supplement to an act, entitled, An act for founding a college in the city or pre-
cincts of Baltimore, by the name of Baltimore College, the question was put, That the following clause be
stricken out? viz. " And be it enacted, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised
and directed to pay to the trustees of the said college, or to their order, the sum of —— dollars, semi-annually,
for the aid and promotion of the said institution. " Resolved in the affirmative.
The question was then put, Shall the said bill pass? Resolved in the affirmative; which was sent to the se-
nate by the clerk
The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to confirm a certain road therein mentioned, endorsed, " will pass. "
Ordered to be engrossed. The bill to make public a road in Charles county, endorsed, " will pass with the pro-
posed amendments; " which amendments were read the first and second, time by especial order, agreed to, -and
the bill ordered to be engrossed. And the following message:

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,
WE have received your message, with the bill in favour of Robert Leatherbury, late sheriff of Somerset
county, for our reconsideration. This bill has been acted on by the senate after mature deliberation, and we
cannot agree to reconsider it.

The bill for the opening of Bridge-street, in the precincts of the city of Baltimore, was read the second time,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
The report of the committee on the petition of George Fitzhugh, was read the second time, and the question

A petition from John Hayne, of Kent county, on behalf of himself and others, praying that a supplement to
the act for the relief of Margaretta Chalmers, may be passed, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. W.
Moffitt, Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Winder, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Kerr, to consider and report thereon.
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.
THURSDAY January 7, 1808.
THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The further additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act to incorporate companies to make several turn-
pike roads through Baltimore county, and for other purposes, was read the second time and passed.
Mr. Page, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report.
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of John Smith Brooks, of Prince-George's county, beg
leave to report, that they have taken the same into their consideration, and examined the accompanying docu-
ments, and are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioner is reasonable and just, and ought to be granted; they
therefore submit the following resolution to the consideration of the legislature:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and directed to give credit to
John Smith Brooks, of Prince-George's county, on his bond given to the state, the sum of fifty-nine pound thir-
