effect, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Steuart, Mr. Gardiner, Mr. Little, Mr. Harryman and Mr.
Bowles, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Stone, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the report on the petition of Catherine Johnson;
which was read the first and second time by especial order, the resolution therein contained assented to, and sent
to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to change the place of holding the election in the
first district in Baltimore county. ORDERED, That Mr. Little, Mr. Harryman and Mr. M. Brown, be a com-
mittee to prepare and bring in the same.

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act to lay out and make a public road from the Black House to the
Pennsylvania line, in Harford county, was read the second-time, and the question put, Shall the said bill pass?
Resolved in the affirmative; which was sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Kerr, from the committee, delivers, to, the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Stephen Rey-
ner, an insolvent debtor; which, was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The report on the petition of Thomas D. Cockey, and others, was read the second time, the resolution there-
in contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to withdraw the petition of Jasper E. Tilley.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Mary Gwinn, of Frederick coun-
ty. ORDERED, That Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Kuhn, be a committee to prepare and bring in the
same.

The report on the petition of John Maloy, of Caecil county, was read the second time, the resolution therein
contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill authorising the justices of the levy court. for Baltimore county to lease
and exchange the property therein mentioned, the supplement to an act authorising the collection of certain
ground-rents due on lots in the town of Cumberland, the bill for the benefit of James Griffin, of Saint-Mary's
county,. the bill for the benefit of John Burgoyne, of Caecil county, and the bill to provide for transcribing and
recording certain records and papers in, the register's, office of Kent county, severally endorsed, " will pass. "

Ordered to be engrossed. And a bill, entitled, An act to provide for the making passable through Baltimore
county the public road laid out from the city of Baltimore to the town of Belle-Air, in Harford county, endorsed,
"will pass; " which was read the first, time and ordered, to lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Dorchester county, praying a public road from the county road from
Vienna to Elliott's landing, to Wapplermander creek, and a petition from John and Jenkins Henry, counter
thereto, were preferred, read, and referred, to Mr. Dennis, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Ennalls, Mr. Gale, of Somerset,
and Mr. Kerr, to consider. and report thereon,

Mr. Forwood, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the bill to prevent swine from going at large in the
town of Belle-Air, in Harford county, as amended; which was read the first and second time by especial order,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Clarksburgh, in Montgomery county, praying a law may pass to prevent
swine and poultry from going at large therein, was preferred, read, and. referred to Mr. Carroll, Mr. Ray and
Mr. Linthicum, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Hawkins, from the committee, delivers to -the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Mary
Gwinn, of Frederick county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
The house proceeded to the second reading of the amendments proposed to the bill authorising Benjamin Ray,
late sheriff and collector of Montgomery county, to complete his collection,, and the question was put, That the
house agree to the first amendment? Resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, That the house agree to the second amendment? Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the house agree to the third amendment? Determined in the negative.

Mr. J. Williams, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William Mills Beavans, of Worcester county, beg leave
to report, that they have taken the same under their serious consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer
of the petitioner ought not to be granted, and that he therefore have leave to withdraw his said petition. All
which is submitted.

The following message being read and agreed to, was, with the bill therein mentioned, sent to the senate by

plete his collection, with our negative to the two last amendments proposed by your body, and hope that upon
reconsideration of the same it will meet with your concurrence.
