THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The bill to provide for transcribing and recording certain records and papers in the register's-office of Kent

county, and the bill for quieting possessions, and securing and confirming the estates of purchasers, were sent

to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Little, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the bill, entitled, An act to lay out and make a public
Toad in Baltimore county, as amended; which was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and
ent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. O. Williams, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay out and make a
public road in Anne-Arundel county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill to erect a new bridge over Great Choptank river, in Caroline county, was read the second time, pass-
ed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from John Barnes, clerk of Charles county court, praying that some of the records of said court
may be transcribed, and a general alphabet made for said office, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Stone,
Mr. C. Dorsey and Mr. Rogerson, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Welch, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of John Lynch, of Kent county, late a soldier in the re-
volutionary war, report, that they have had the same under consideration, and find, from ample testimony
that the petitioner was wounded when fighting the battles of his country, which secured liberty and indepen-
dence to America, the effects of which have rendered him unable, in his advanced age, to procure a support for
himself and children, who are dependent on him for their subsistence; with this view of his case, your commit-
tee, under the impression that it becomes the duty of this state to provide for the unfortunate and meritorious

soldier, who has spent the prime of his life, and nobly shed his blood, in her cause, recommend the following
resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby directed and required to pay to John
Lynch, of Kent county, late soldier in the revolutionary war, or to his order, in half yearly payments, a. sum
of money equal to the half pay of a corporal.

Mr. Tabbs, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the benefit of the joined
evangelic lutheran and evangelic presbyterian congregation of Saint-Paul's church, in Washington county;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The report of the committee on the petition of Archibald Gordon was read the second time, and the resolu-
tion therein contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill for the relief of James West, an insolvent debtor, was read the second time passed, and sent to
the senate by the clerk.

The report of the committee on the petition of John Lynch was read the second time by especial order, and
the resolution therein contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill authorising the justices of the levy court for Baltimore county to lease and exchange the property
therein mentioned, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act to prevent the going at large of swine in the village of Hills-
borough, in Caroline county, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act for the encouragement at manufactures of linen
cotton and woollen clothes, within this state, and for other purposes. ORDERED, That Mr. W. H. Brown,
Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. T. Dorsey and Mr. Grahame, be a committee to prepare and bring in the
same.

Mr. Ennalls, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act for rectify-
ing the evil practices of attornies in this state, and ascertaining fees to the attorney-general, clerk of indict-
ments, attornies, and practitioners of the law in the courts of this state, and for levying the same by way of
execution; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The further supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the amendment of the law, and the bill to confirm cer-
tain deeds of conveyance made by Joseph Leonard, and other persons therein mentioned, were read the second
time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The clerk of the senate delivers the resolution in favour of William Amos, endorsed, " assented to. " The
bill for the relief of Mary Gwinn, of Frederick county, endorsed, " will pass with the proposed amendments; "
which amendments were read. And the bill for the sale of the real estate of James Winchester, late of Balti-
more county, deceased, endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed.

The supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the establishment of a school in Caroline county, was read the
second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
