The clerk of the senate delivers the report of the trustees of Charlotte Hall school; which was read and re-
ferred to Mr. W. H. Brown, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Little, Mr. T. Dorsey and Mr. T. Moffit. Also the bill to con-
firm an act, entitled, An act to alter, change and repeal, such parts of the constitution and form of government
of this state as relate to the division of Saint-Mary's county into electional districts, 'and the bill to revive and
aid the proceedings of the orphans court of Saint-Mary's county, severally endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to
be engrossed. And the bill for the relief of Thomas Dilworth, of Frederick county, endorsed, "will pass with
the proposed amendment; " which amendment was read the first and second time by especial order, agreed to,
and the bill ordered to be engrossed.
The house adjourns until Monday morning 9 o'clock.
MONDAY, November 23, 1807.
THE house met. Present the same members as on Saturday. I he proceedings of Saturday were read.
Mr. Blake appears in the house. Mr. William Darne, a delegate returned for Montgomery county, appeared,
and after qualifying in the mode prescribed by the constitution and form of government, and taking the oath to
support the constitution of the United States, took his seat in the house.
The bill for the benefit of John Burgoyne, of Caecil county, and the further supplement to ar. act, entitled, An
act for appointing a wreckmaster in Worcester county, were sent to the senate by the clerk.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore county, praying commissioners to be appointed to lay out,
open and make, a road from the east end of Dulany's-street, in the city of Baltimore, to communicate with the
Philadelphia road, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Little, Mr. T. Dorsey and Mr. Steuart, to consider
and report thereon.
A memorial from the commissioners appointed for the erection of a penitentiary, praying a further sum for the
completion of the same, and also that a law may pass authorising the levy court of Baltimore county to exchange
a small part of the prison lot for a small part of the penitentiary lot, so as to square the latter, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little, Mr. C. Dorsey, Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Bruce, co consider and
report thereon.
Mr. Kerr, Mr. P. Spencer, Mr. Boon, Mr. Welch, Mr. Brice and Mr. W. Moffitt, have leave of absence.
The bill to make valid the will of Arthur M'Dade, late of Caecil county, deceased, was read the second time,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
A petition from the trustees of Hillsborough school, in Caroline county, praying that a law may pass autho-
rising them to bind out such poor children, without friends, as are educated at said school, after being educated
as far as is thought necessary, and praying also that the neat personal estates of such persons as shall die intes-
tate in said county, without relations within the fifth degree, shall be applied to the education and maintenance
of the poor children at said school, or otherwise, and praying the legislature to appropriate a small sum annually,
from the treasury, to said school, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Jump, Mr. Bayard, Mr. J. E. Spen-
cer, Mr. Sudler and Mr. Jackson, to consider and report, thereon.
The following message was read, agreed to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Gentlemen of the Senate,
WE have appointed Messieurs T. B. Dorsey, Little, C. Dorsey, Shaaff and Bruce, a committee on the part
of this house on the memorial of the commissioners for the building of the penitentiary, and viewing the subject
matter thereof as an object of the first magnitude and importance to the state of Maryland at large, propose to
you that a committee be appointed on the part of the senate, to join the committee appointed by this house, as
a joint committee to view and examine the subject matter of said memorial, and to report thereon.

A memorial from Richard Choate, supervisor of the public roads in Baltimore county, stating, that his books,
accounts and receipts, as such, were accidentally consumed by fire, and praying that a law may pass, authorising
the levy court of Baltimore county to close his account for the present year without the production of his re-
ceipts, &c. if they shall be satisfied of the justice and fairness of the same, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little and Mr. Harryman, to consider and report thereon.
A memorial from the trustees of the levy court of Baltimore county, stating, that the fund heretofore appro-
priated by law to the support of the criminals on the public roads is insufficient for their support, and praying
that a law may pass authorising the levy court of Baltimore county to apply so much of the dividends received
from the turnpike road companies towards that purpose as they may think necessary for the same, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little and Mr. Steuart, to consider and report thereon.
The clerk of the senate delivers the bill for the relief of John Troxal, of Frederick county, endorsed, " will
pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also the resolution in favour of Keally Tydings, endorsed, " dissented from. "
Mr. Sudler, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the benefit of Alfred
Jones, of Queen-Anne's county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
A memorial from sundry inhabitants of the city of Baltimore, praying a law may pass for incorporating a com-
pany for insuring buildings and personal property from loss or injury by fire, and extending the same to lives, and
